Mixed Martial Arts otherwise known as MMA is a full combat sport that was originally intended to put two participants into a competition against each other too see how effective each others style of martial arts were. Competitors from different fighting styles were pitted against one another in contests with relatively few rules.
Since the dark ages, individual fighters employed multiple martial arts into their fighting style to be complete Mixed Martial Artists. To bring the sport into the mainstream promoters had to adopt additional rules to increase competitor’s safety and to comply with sport regulations and to broaden mainstream acceptance of the sport.
